Canals 2,800 years old have been found in Jerusalem

Since the canals are near the most important areas, it means that the product made using them could have been related to the economy of the temple or palace. For example, some materials may have been soaked in them. For example, the production of linen requires a long soaking to allow the fibres to soften. Perhaps dates were left in the canals so that under the influence of sunlight there was a release of silane – date honey.

According to the researchers, additional soil analyses will help to understand the true purpose of the canals.
